The legendary singer gave as a present to the mayor of Kavarna Tsonko Tsonev a golden record of "Deep Purple"
The legendary ex-vocalist of "Deep Purple" Glenn Hughes celebrated his 55-th birthday on the stage of "Kaliakra" stadium in Kavarna. The musician prooved to the thousands of fans in the coastal town that he has not been the voice of one of the most famous bands in the world for nothing. The mayor of Kavarna surprised him with a huge cake with the shape of a guitar, and Hughes instantly returned the gesture with one of the golden records of "Deep Purple", one won by the sale of their album "Burn".
On monday thousands of fans from all over the country arrived to the coastal town to hear their idol from the seventies.
(The bands) "Hipodil", "BTR" and "Signal" wormed up the audience before Glenn Hughes came out on stage. Right after his first song he said he is very happy to have the opportunity to celebrate his birthday in Bulgaria among so many fans. After a thread of hits that lasted two hours, the musicians, their friends and the mayor of Kavarna went down to the sea to celebrate accordingly. Because Glenn Hughes is an abstainer, the whole company conformed. The table was full with fish and chicken delicacies, while Glenn ordered a "Shopska" salad. During dinner the rock legend gave the mayor more gifts.
Glenn Hughes will stay in Kavarna a few more days, because he is shooting a music clip in the area surrounding the town. The producer of the clip is Andrei Slabakov. The mapped out locations where shooting the clip will take place for most of the time are cape Kaliakra and the area of Bolata. . . .
The musicians from the russian band "Lyube" will stay in the resort of "Golden Sands" for a few days . . . The president Georgi Parvanov is expected to arrive in Kavarna especially for their concert there. It is known that "Lyube" is the favorite band of the russian president Vladimir Putin.
